How to Measure

RECESS FITTING

Measure the full width and height of the recess and we will make the appropriate deductions to ensure a perfect fit

Measure the width of the inside recess of the window at the top in cm and make a note of this measurement, do the same for the drop/height and enter these measurements in the order form above.

IMPORTANTDon’t make any deductions, we’ll deduct from the width to ensure your blind fits perfectly.

For an inside recess fit, we will deduct 3.5cm from your width measurement. For example, if your inside recess is 100cm wide, we will make the blind material to 96.5cm wide and then once the end fittings are applied the overall width will then be 100cm wide.

OUTSIDE RECESS

Measure the full width and height of the recess and then add a little extra to the top and to each side, we will make the blind to the size you specify with no deductions.

To minimize light sneaking through we recommend that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 7cm so add this to your measurement.

For example, if your measurement is 100cm wide, we will make the blind material to 100cm wide and then once the end fittings are applied the overall width will then be 103.5cm wide.

How to Install

Step One - Fitting the brackets

Top Fixing (For Inside a Recess)

  1. Hold each bracket in place and mark the hole positions.
  2. Secure each bracket with appropriate screws. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface where you are mounting the brackets.
  3. When top fixing inside a recess, account for any protruding obstructions such as vents or window handles.

Face Fixing (For Outside a Recess)

  1. Hold each bracket in place and mark the hole positions.
  2. Secure each bracket with appropriate screws. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface where you are mounting the brackets.

Step Two - Fitting the blind

Hold the fully wound blind and insert the idle pin end into the bracket as shown.

  1. With the idle pin end in place, insert the control end into the opposite bracket by depressing the pin end.
  2. Pull down vertically until the control end clicks into place.

Step Three - Fit the child safety device

1. Place the safety device on the wall and mark the positions of the two screw holes.
2. Drill holes using an appropriate drill bit.
3. Position the device, ensuring the chain is fully taut.
4. Securely screw the safety device to the wall using suitable fixings.

Install the safety device as far as possible from the control mechanism, ensuring it is at least 1.5 meters from the floor to prevent the looped chain from becoming slack.

Fitting Type

Recess or outside recess fitting?

When a window is not flush to the wall, a recess is created. This internal space in a room is rarely used during the day, unless the sill of the window is put to some use. Therefore, hanging a blind outside of the recess usually causes no problem in terms of lost space, but fitting inside will make the blind nearer to the window.

When deciding on mounting inside or outside recess, ensure that there are no obtruding objects (window catches, electrical sockets, tiles etc.) to hinder the operation of the blind.

What we do

INSIDE RECESS FIT

For an inside recess fit we deduct 35mm from the width measurement you provide us to ensure that the blind with the controls and brackets will fit the into the recess of your window.

Remember the actual fabric of the blind will be about 35mm narrower than the measurements you give us.

For example, if your inside recess is 100cm wide, we will make the blind material to 96.5cm wide and then once the end fittings are applied the overall width will then be 100cm wide.

OUTSIDE RECESS

You may not have a recessed window or for blackout purposes you may want to cover the entire window space. In these cases, this is the option to select.

The blind material will be made exactly to the sizes you give to us.

For example, if your measurement is 100cm wide, we will make the blind material to 100cm wide and then once the end fittings are applied the overall width will then be 103.5cm wide.

Roll Type

ROLL TYPE

The blind can either roll from behind the roller or over the front of the roller. Typically, roller blinds are positioned so that the blind rolls from behind the top roller, especially for inside recess fit blinds so that they are as close to the window as possible.

However, if you have objects that protrude from the window, you may decide to roll the blind over the roller. This way, the blind will not be obstructed when it is pulled down over the window.

Pull Cord

PULL CORD

We have two options for you to choose from if you chose to order your blind with a pull cord:

1. deluxe metal chain (nickel plated) in silver

or

2. plastic white chain

Please note: the metal chain is an additional £5.00

Always follow the safety instructions regarding the blind chain/cord which are included in the leaflet sent out with your blind. If you require any further information, don't hesitate to contact us.

Child Safety

All our blinds adhere to the BBSA’s strict child safety guidelines and meet the British and European safety standard EN 13120:2009 + A1:2014. If a child or vulnerable person will be using the room where the blind is installed, you MUST install the provided safety device to securely tie up the pull cord, keeping it out of reach of children, vulnerable individuals, and pets.

Even with the safety device fitted, we recommend moving beds, cots, and furniture away from any windows.
