FAQ'S - WHAT ARE PRINTED BLINDS

Posted by John Siggers on

What is a printed roller blind

Printed roller blinds are digitally printed on special materials, You choose the image to be printed and we then print this image on to one side of the blind, we them make this into a stunning roller blind ready to hang

How to Measure Roller Blinds

Measure the window in 3  places and provide the smallest measurement in mm for both width and the drop.

Inside or outside the recess,   When a window is not flush to the wall, there is a recess which is created. This internal space in a room is rarely used during the day, unless the sill of the window is put to some use. Therefore, hanging a blind outside of the recess usually causes no problem in terms of lost space, but fitting inside will make the blind nearer to the window.

When deciding on mounting inside or outside recess, ensure that there are no obtruding objects (window catches, electrical sockets, tiles etc.) to hinder the operation of the blind.

INSIDE RECESS

when you give us your measurements, we deduct 35mm from the width measurement to ensure the blind with the controls and brackets will fit the recess.

OUTSIDE RECESS

Ensure the blind overlaps on both sides to ensure efficient light blocking, especially for blackout fabric blinds.

BLACKOUT OR TRANSLUCENT MATERIAL

Translucent Blind Fabric: Translucent fabrics allow varying degrees of light to filter through depending on the colour and weave of the fabric. Persons or objects on the opposite side are not clearly visible. Perfect for rooms which are overlooked and where privacy is an issue. ... Blackout fabric blocks the light coming in from outside these can be used anywhere, but are  useful in bedrooms for those who struggle to sleep

CHILD SAFETY

Child Safety has always been a key consideration in the home. The legislation now in place makes it a much more prominent point to take into account when purchasing new window blinds.

In line with the new legislation, Artfever use all relevant products to ensure we are completely compliant with the Child Safety Requirements of BS EN13120.

Why has this legislation been introduced?
Young children can be strangled by loops in pull cords, chains, tapes and inner cords that operate the product. To avoid strangulation and entanglement, keep cords out of the reach of young children. Cords may become wrapped around a child’s neck. This new legislation has been introduced to ensure that all window blinds are supplied to a set standard.

Child Safe Checklist

  • Make sure all cords and chains are always secured out of reach.
  • Position furniture such as sofas, cots, tables away from windows to prevent children climbing too close to them.
  • Make sure inner or rear cords are also fitted with safety devices.
  • For more information on  Child Safe devices or products, ask Artfever.
